Papaya Smoothie PDF Print E-mail

Courtesy of Robert Trama

Regular Vanilla.COMpany visitor, Robert Trama sent the Queen his wife's special Peruvian recipe for a papaya smoothie. All through Latin America people drink "liquados," blender drinks that contain fresh tropical fruits and milk. Popular for breakfast and as an afternoon pick-me-up, they are absolutely delicious anytime of day. You can substitute other fruits if papayas aren't available where you live.

Ingredients:
1 papaya (cut into slices)
1 cup of half and half or whole milk
1 cup of water
1/8 cup of sugar
1 tablespoon (or teaspoon) pure vanilla extract (more or less depending on your taste)

Instructions:
Mix in a blender until smooth.
Serve in chilled glasses and garnish with mint or spears of papaya and pineapple if desired. Serves 2.
