Brighten your home while saving money.  Compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) are now the size of standard incandescent lightbulbs but last six to 10 times as long and use 25 percent or less power than an incandescent bulb.  A 14 watt CFL lightbulb will put out much less energy as heat and will provide the same amoung of light as a 65 watt incandescent bulb.

According to the Energy Star (www.energy-star.gov), the joint program of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, if every home in America replaced just one incandescent light bulb with a CFL, in one year enough energy would be saved to light more than 3 million homes!

New light-emitting diodes (LED) are even more energy-efficient.  A 75 watt incandescent bulb costs $3.80 a month to provide light.  A 12 watt LED emits the same amount of light and costs 43 cents a month.
