Love the smell of lemons?  Apparently most of us do as the cleaning industry has amassed a fortune selling us products with that fresh citrus smell that speaks of squeaky clean.  Problem is, most of the products use imitation citrus fragrances and the cleaners themselves often have toxic chemicals.

Plain lemons can do lots more than give us juice for foods and beverages.  And there isn't anything more "green" than a lemon fresh from the tree.

• Use a cut lemon as a natural deodorant under your arms and on your feet.

• Mix lemon juice and cool water and apply to a mild sunburn.  It will sooth your skin and help your body recover more quickly.

• Squeeze lemon juice on an ink stain, let sit overnight, then launder.  Repeat if necessary before drying.

• Remove oxidation on copper pans. Make a paste of lemon juice and salt and rub it on copper.  Rinse well and dry.
