Halloween is a delightful holiday for kids, both young and not-so-young.  However, the use of purchased costumes, especially those made out of plastics, are definitely not green. 

Don't despair!  Green Halloween has loads of ideas about how to make halloween green while still making it fun.

If you sew, you can whip up simple costumes or alter already-made ones.  Children can also get involved in costume swapping, a great way to extend the life of costumes that typically are only worn once or twice.  According to Green Halloween, if just half the kids in the U.S. swapped costumes versus buying new ones, we coud reduce landfill waste by 6,250 tons per year!

Another great idea is to donate used costumes to local children's theatre groups or to resale shops.
